aka 'Ongoing Translation Project'

In the childhood game of telephone (or chinese whispers to the less racially sensitive), a story is passed from person to person, and in each subsequent retelling, becomes altered in great or subtle ways.

Now, as creatives working across multiple languages, we remain interested in the translation of ideas, not only via different people but through many tongues.

In cooperation with two copywriters for each of 15+ languages, we are embarking on a textual telephone to transform a work — O. Henry's 'The Gift of the Magi' — into a new, hilariously dissimilar or surprisingly true, possibly warped polyglot bastard. For the sake of experiments in translation, and because stuff always sounds funny at the very last receiver.
